Healthy Homemade Popsicles The summer has brought the heat. So it is only right for us to bring the popsicles. Though popsicles from the grocery store are great, they may not be cost efficient or healthy. I have researched a couple of the healthiest, and tastiest popsicles you can make at home. 1 GINGER PEACH POPSICLES These delicious popsicles will not just cool you down. They will provide your body with a healthy alternative to artificial flavoring. The ginger can help with nausea, muscle pain, chronic indigestion, fight infections, and many more medicinal properties. The peaches can help keep your skin healthy, for the vitamin A and C in peaches provide a natural moisturizer. Peaches can also reduce stress, fight hair loss, and help with weight loss. Ingredients: 2 oz. fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced into thick coins 1/2 c. water 1/3 c. sugar 2 ripe peaches, pitted and cut into chunks Instructions: Combine ginger, water, and sugar in small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Allow syrup to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and cool. Pour syrup into blender; discard ginger. Add peaches to blender and blend until smooth. Pour mixture into popsicle molds and freeze until solid 2 POWER SMOOTHI STRIPED POPSICLES This popsicle is undeniably filled with health benefits. Spinach, kale, and wheat grass are full of vitamins. The bananas can aid digestion. Flaxseeds help fight heart disease and diabetes. Of course, fruits and vegetables provide a crash-free energy boost. Ingredients: yogurt, thinned with milk coconut water coconut milk tomato juice spinach, kale or wheat grass juice mashed banana any berry juice or puree orange or grapefruit juice celery juice pineapple juice or puree pomegranate juice chia seeds wheat germ flax seeds Instructions: Use a small glass measuring cup with a spout to easily pour the layers into your popsicle mold. Start with your first layer, and evenly pour a small amount into each mold. Freeze until firm. This might take 30-45 minutes. Lay down the second layer, and this time, cover the top of the mold with foil, and insert your sticks right through the foil. (Use a small sharp knife to make a slit in the foil first.) Freeze again until firm, and continue your layers until you fill the molds. You can do even or random layers, it’s up to you.To unmold the popsicles, fill your sink with hot water and immerse the mold up to, but not over, the top lip, for 15 seconds. If the pops don’t slide out easily, immerse for a few more seconds.Store in plastic baggies in the freezer. 3 GREEN SMOOTHIE DETOX POPS This tasty popsicle is completely guilt free. From the apples to zucchini, you will be nothing but happy and healthy while eating these. Ingredients: 1 apple, cored and cut up into chunks 2 cups green grapes juice of 1 lemon 2 tbsp honey or agave 2 cups chopped kale, packed 1 cup cubed zucchini 1/4 to 1/2 cup water 1 avocado, peeled + de-stoned Instructions: Put all the ingredients, apart from the avocado, into a blender (start out with 1/4 cup of water. Add up to 1/4 cup more if you need help getting it to blend) and blend until smooth. Place a fine mesh strainer over a medium bowl. Pour the contents of the blender into the strainer and use a rubber spatula to push the juice through. Discard the pulp and rinse your blender. Pour the liquid back into the blender and add the avocado. Blend until smooth. Divide mixture among the popsicle molds and freeze for 4-6 hours until firm. (After 1 hour in the freezer, push popsicle sticks into the molds.) After your yoga class, these will be great for cooling down after an intense exercise.
